For Steven Jobs read Walt Disney

As I write lawyers and their clients are negotiating a deal which, if all goes accordingly to plan, will result in the emergence of a new Walt Disney.

He is Steven P Jobs, the Apple Computer and iPod maestro, who is, according to the New York Times, discussing the sale of his Pixar Animation Studios for more than to $6.8 billion to Disney.  If he decides to sell – and they decide to buy – Jobs will end up as a major Disney shareholder and a pivotal figure in the transition of Disney from old to new media.Watch this space.

My hats off to Bob Iger if this proves to be his brainchild. We certainly know this couldn’t/wouldn’t have happen during Eisner’s watch. Interesting note: When Apple acquired Jobs’ Next, it was like Apple paying Next to make Jobs the CEO of Apple (a good strategy as well). What do you bet we see this process repeat with Disney too!
